2017 Ellsworth Antiques Show at Woodlawn – What Fun!
The 2017 Ellsworth Antiques Show certainly lived up to its reputation as being one of the finest summer antiques show in the country. Dealers, guests, volunteers and staff left with smiles and memories after a sold out Opening Night Dinner and prosperous three-day Show.
The Show, in its 12th year at Woodlawn, featured twenty-seven dealers of national, international, and regional renown. Many of the Show’s annual attendees commented on the dynamic presentation and diversity of wares under the tent this year. It proved to be a well planned mix of long term dealers, returning dealers from past years, and a number of new dealers coming to experience the Show for the first time. Adding to the fun was the addition of the SPCA of Hancock County in a Special Feature Booth. Show goers adopted six kittens, plus a foster home was found for one dog, and there was interest in another.
The 2017 Opening Night Party and Dinner offered all that guests have come to expect of the festive evening. Guests appreciated the planning team’s effort to highlight local businesses. Music was provided by Grammy award winner Paul Sullivan who lives in Blue Hill, a scrumptious menu prepared by Chipper’s Restaurant and Catering of Hancock. Airline Brewing Company from Amherst served up John Black Stout, Woodlawn’s first microbrew which had premiered at the 2016 Show. Dinner guests enjoyed a lavender honey gelato made by PugNuts Ice Cream Shop in Surry, and the evening’s take home gift was a freshly ground Black House Blend Coffee, specially created by Rooster Brother in downtown Ellsworth for this year’s Show.
Live music events returned for a second year. On Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m., Show visitors were treated to the Bangor Symphony Orchestra Juniper String Quartet and a wine tasting. On Friday 3 to 6 p.m., musicians from the Acadia School of Traditional Music & Art and a beer tasting with Airline Brewing Company attracted people to the Show. On Saturday morning, Chipper’s had homemade donuts and coffee waiting for hungry Show visitors.
Plans are already in the works for the 2018 Show, scheduled for Thursday to Saturday, August 16 – 18 with Opening Night being Wednesday, August 15. Save the dates!
