Artist Debra Arter will teach a monotype printmaking workshop using non-toxic inks, clear styrene, and a pin press. A pin press is an artist quality rolling pin of sorts that allows for portable printing. Lots of fun and engaging results await those who sign up for this colorful workshop. Everyone will create at least 12 prints and end up with many variations which may be hand colored, over printed or used for collage in the end. The brilliant bold colors of Akua inks and spontaneity of monotypes will appeal to painters as well as beginners alike. Embedded imagery, botanical prints and multiple color printing will be demonstrated. The beauty of Maine is easily captured in this facile medium for beginners and advanced alike. Debra Arter is a member of the Boston Printmakers and has been creating monotypes for over a decade. The cost is $80 for Woodlawn members/$90 for non-members. As space is limited, pre-registration is required by calling Woodlawn at 667-8671.
