Dog Training: Dog Aggression (6:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Coastal K9 Consulting, will hold a series of dog training sessions focussing on various subject during the Fall.  This week's session will focusing on dog vs dog aggression.  Learn why it happens and how most owners inadvertently make it stronger.  During this session,  participants will learn how best solve this age old problem.  The cost is: $80 for Woodlawn members/$90 for non-members for the session.  Discount is available if signing up for several sessions.  If thinking of getting a dog soon, the class can be audited without a dog for 50% of the cost.  As space is limited, pre-registration is required by calling Woodlawn at 667-8671.

Enjoy a traditional high tea in an enchanting setting.  Voted "Best Garden Tea" by Yankee Magazine, it is an experience not to be missed.  The cost is $22 for members/$25 for non-members.  As space is limited, reservations are required by calling Woodlawn at 667-8671.




Dog Training: Walk On Leash (6:00 pm - 8:00 pm)

Coastal K9 Consulting, will hold a series of dog training sessions focusing on various subject during the Fall.  This week’s focus will be on walking on a leash.  Instead of being pulled, jerked, pulled off your feet or having your arm pulled out of the socket, learn the most effective, positive methods to teach your dog to walk or run on a loose leash.  The cost is: $80 for Woodlawn members/$90 for non-members per session.  If thinking of getting a dog soon, the class can be audited without a dog for 50% of the cost.  As space is limited, pre-registration is required by calling Woodlawn at 667-8671.

Table Designs (9:00 am - 12:00 - noon)

Join us for a horticultural workshop hosted by the St-Croix District of the Garden Club Federation of Maine.  The workshop will focus on table designs.

Bird Sculpture Demonstration And Workshop With Hank Tyler (10:00 am - 2:00 pm)

Hank Tyler, an internationally known sculptor from Hallowell, will demonstrate his sculpture techniques in a workshop format. Tyler sculpts in hardwoods – Black Walnut, Bubinga wood from Africa, Brazilian Rosewood, and Osage Orange. The wood is finely sanded to show the grain pattern and is finished with Tung oil. Water and oceanic birds are Tyler’s preferred subject matter with sandpipers being of special interest and the bulk of his current work.

Tyler will explain his approach to bird sculpture and design, as well as, technique. Participants will have an opportunity to use chisels, rasps, riffles, scrapers and sandpaper. Participants are encouraged to ask questions. The workshop’s approach will be to encourage give and take with questions welcome throughout the workshop. Participants who are sculptors or carvers are encouraged to bring examples of their works

A number of Tyler’s finished sculptures and works in progress will be at the workshop for participants to critique and take notes for their own sculptures.

Tyler’s sculptures are currently on display at the Wendell Gilley Museum in Southwest Harbor, and The Gallery at Frenchman’s Bay in Somesville.  Participants are encouraged to go see the sculptures prior to the workshop.

The cost for the workshop $45 for Woodlawn members/$55 for non-members.  As space is limited, pre-registrations are required by calling Woodlawn at 667-8671.  Participants are asked to bring a bag lunch and a notebook, pen or pencils.
